Professional Ethics

An observation in light of “cut scores” and
A DOE
elevating the passing score
to facilitate
the dismantling of
NO public schools.
THIS SHUTS DOWN COLD
ANY EQUIVOCATION
ANY AMBIGUITY
ANY QUESTION
as to whether
a TFAer is equal to
A PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR.
The difference?
**A Professional Code of Ethics**
What role does it play
in a profession?
It serves as the
plumb line
the leveler
Where you “draw the line”.

Professional ethics are not *memorized
*Obtained by correspondence course
*Acquired by law
*Learned through a PD video

Professional ethics are
*muddled through,
*wrestled with,
*argued about.

If one is lucky
Just lucky enough
He’ll get out
By the skin of his teeth
With a slight limp.

But
The REWARD
is
Hard-won
WISDOM.
It guides
*professional practice
*Every decision made
By the victor.

Can’t get that in five weeks.
Can’t even get it in one year.
It certainly can’t be obtained
through the isolation
of a dog-eat-dog
Business model.
No,
Our collective striving
makes us who and
what we are.
Education Professionals.

Professionals do NOT
turn people
into data points
That can be finagled
By someone else
who lacks
… ethics.
